Fractal Regeneration applies to Regenerative Systems

The all-inclusive set of decaying systems includes anything that degenerates over time. Due to entropy this applies to the material, sensory and the psycho-emotional world based in attention – in effect all of existence. Fractal decay, the basis of mathematical models for behavior, only applies to the subset of decaying systems that are also replenished.

Sight, taste, hearing, memory, touch, behavior, smell, musical ability, hatred and love must be continually refreshed on a moment to moment, year to year level to avoid the fading impetus of sensory input, the decay of emotional content, the habituation of repetition. Sensory input from a dynamic and changeable environment must be experienced and responded to in order to procreate, obtain food for sustenance, and to avoid becoming food for predators. The general mathematical models for fractal regeneration apply to each of these diverse systems.


Creative Pulse from Sustained Attention

The Creative Pulse model applies to the behavior of an even smaller subset of the fractal decay set – those based upon sustained attention, which accumulates naturally. This includes many types of human behavior, as well as dog and catfights and sexual frenzy. From personal experience it is not waiting tables (can walk into a full station and perform credibly without any warming up). Generally it is not filing or transcribing documents. Requiring sustained attention the Pulse model does not apply to behavior that is rote or mindless. The Creative Pulse model pertains to any behavior that captures and sustains attention – continuous, sustained, conscious intent. According to this theory each activity can experience the magical Pulse or can be interrupted, aborted prematurely. So even Tai Chi, music, meditation, or watching TV, can go either way – depending on whether the mind is engaged. Wandering or distracted attention will kill the Pulse, as much as an Interruption.

Below is a diagram showing the interlocking nature of these decaying systems. Outer Layer: Due to entropy all of existence continually decays. Middle Layer: Life has the unique ability to replenish this continuous decay – sex for reproduction to replace the dying members of the species – food to replenish depleted nutrients – and water to replace the waste. This is the complete realm of fractal decay. Inner Layer: Awareness has the ability to sustain attention. This generates a pulse, creative or destructive – which is a subset of the mathematics of fractal regeneration.

Based in Erratically Predictable Data Streams

In addition to the continuous process of decay and replenishment that all living systems go through, there are regular discontinuous interruptions to the steady flow of sensory input. The myriad and diverse circumstances of life generate a live data streams that is erratically predictable. A cloud passes overhead bringing a momentary chill to an otherwise hot day. The body’s heating system must make sense of the erratic stream of information coming from the skin and make an appropriate response. The flu unexpectedly interrupts the regularity of the bodily systems – producing a temperature, diarrhea, and vomiting. The out-of-balance organism must right itself to continue functioning. To survive and procreate every living organism, whether animal or plant, has evolved to cope with these unpredictable disruptions. Life in order to survive has adapted a variety of biological systems to deal with the vagaries of physical existence – unpredictable, inconstant Maya. They are all founded upon the nature of experience to decay and be refreshed – continuously, for now and forever, amen – in an infinite number of varied circumstances. The mathematical models address these systems.

Basic Cell equation generates decaying central measures

The decaying average, the basic cell equation of fractal decay, is perfectly suited to deal with this erratic flow of data from sensory input. Further this simple formula for replenished decay generates all the derivatives of calculus with their central measures – averages, standard deviations, and such – except that they decay – decaying average, decaying standard deviations, etcetera. This gives them distinctly different properties from the central measures of the dead data sets – the information generated by matter, the world of prakrti – the realm that Newton’s powerful equations have described so well. (As an example of the difference between live and dead data streams throw a bird and a ball of the same weight into the air and ask a scientist to predict where they will land.) Due to the erratic nature of the environment combined with the need of living organisms to balance and replenish themselves, Newton’s static formulas with their fixed initial conditions based in content are particularly inappropriate. Alternately the context-based equations of fractal decay with their central measures, which are exceptionally sensitive to these abrupt environmental changes, are appropriate for the task of regulation and describing live systems.

Directionals, at heart of Pulse Theory, not generated by traditional dead sets

Sustained Attention, an essential feature of more complex forms of Life, is necessary to procure food, discover sexual partners for procreation, avoid predators, and bear fruit, whether vegetal or artistic. At the foundation of these iterative decay/replenish equations are Directionals, a decaying standard deviation with a direction vector. The directional nature of this central measure is particularly appropriate for modeling the features of Sustained Attention with its directed consciousness – a talent that is necessary for the most basic of activities – the hunt as well as gathering and sex. This Sustained Attention is the heart of the Creative Pulse.

Fixed Matter Equations inadequate for the task modeling the Creative Pulse

Due to their absolutely predictable material nature the dead sets that rule matter do not generate Directionals. As such, these matter equations, which are so spectacular at predicting the behavior of matter, are inadequate for describing or modeling the features of Sustained Attention.

Summary

Everything decays, but only Life replenishes itself. Although many biological systems work automatically to balance and replenish the organism, the sustained attention of conscious awareness is necessary for many basic activities that are essential to sustain life – procuring food and partners. Due to the erratic nature of the environment the context-based equations of fractal decay are the appropriate tool for modeling and study of Life. Due to the focused nature of attention Directionals, an directed central measure of fractal decay, are an appropriate tool. The context based equations of matter are inadequate for the job due to their static nature.
