The widely accepted Theory of Mind holds that
humans have the unique ability to ascribe underlying motivations to behavior
based upon subliminal cues. (For more detail see *'The Emergence of Scientism'*.) Although this evolutionary talent enabled our
species to form sophisticated social arrangements that facilitated survival in
a hostile world, it was applied indiscriminately to the universal flux,
including matter. Even Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC), the Greek philosopher
whose influential writings laid the foundations for observational science from
ancient to medieval times, ascribed motivations to matter.

At the beginning of the Common Era, another Greek Ptolemy (ca. 85AD – ca. 165AD) developed some formulas that precisely predicted planetary motion – sans motivations. This seed of impersonal laws lay dormant for over a millennia. Then inspired by the revival of Greek thought, Renaissance thinkers in Western Europe began to suspect that there were universal laws that governed the behavior of inert matter. If so, then ascribing motivations to matter was an outdated and unproductive way of thinking.

Under this intellectual ferment, Newton (1643-1727) emerged – promulgating his laws of motion. These mathematical laws fit perfectly with the new paradigm – that immutable laws govern the behavior of matter just as they govern the behavior of the stars. However he also introduced his formula for gravity, which linked earthly matter with the heavenly planets. But according to Newton’s theory, matter was attractive – acting magically from a distance. Theoreticians of the day reacted in horror – claiming that Newton’s theory of gravity was throwing science back into the Dark Ages. His assignment of an attractive force to impersonal matter reeked of the animistic superstitions that they were attempting to escape. Liebnitz, like Galileo before him, even asserted that gravity was an occult fantasy.

For the ensuing century, scientists pro and con attempted to prove or disprove the gravitational theory – in the attempt to banish this superstitious residue of the past – this attribution of innate traits to impersonal matter. Despite their best efforts, they were unsuccessful. Gradually scientists came to accept the force of gravity as a given. This growing acceptance was due to the increasing efficacy of the theory in making predictions and explaining phenomenon.

After about a century the scientific community gave up their fruitless quest to validate gravity – to give it a firm theoretical foundation. This was partially due to the predictive power of the new model and partially due to frustration at their lack of results despite hours of study and theorizing about the ultimate nature of gravity. During this latter period the force of gravity became the indisputable fact of nature that it is today – an immutable natural law and an innate feature of matter. This way of thinking – that matter could act from a distance – eventually led to the theories of electromagnetism and atomic forces. (Indeed the Newtonian way of thinking in terms of forces, momentum, matter, velocity and such eventually led to the theory of Information Dynamics as well.)

However the idea of matter magically attracting matter from a distance still had occult underpinnings. This attractive force was still just a correspondence – a throwback to the past – without theoretical justification – even though it had been verified innumerable times experimentally. Along came Einstein with his theory of relativity. He proceeded to prove the whys behind Gravity, but only by exploding the basic concepts underlying Newton’s’ laws.

In this new vision energy and matter were now inextricably connected in a continuum, as were space and time. Under Newtonian dynamics each of these constructs were distinct and mutually exclusive. The model was simple. Due to energy matter moved through space with the passage of time. With his notion of bendable space combined with the linking of matter and energy Einstein simultaneously resolved some experimental discrepancies that had been plaguing the scientific community as well as providing theoretical foundations behind the force of gravity.

While relativity theory undermined some basic Newtonian concepts, it simultaneously put Newtonian science on a firm theoretical foundation. As such Newtonian physics becomes a special case of relativity theory - when things move at a normal earthlike speed. In fact because all of human existence, including space travel, moves at these intermediate speeds, Newtonian physics remains the norm for engineers globally. Relativity Theory is given precedence, as it contains Newton’s dynamics and not vice versa – more all encompassing. However if Relativity had come first engineers would have had to derive Newtonian constructs to deal with the earthly affairs that concern humanity. As such Einstein's Theory of Relativity is just the Band-Aid that holds Newtonian dynamics together by patching up the discrepancies in the theory when matter approaches the speed of light. In this context each theory deals with relatively mutually exclusive sectors of the dynamics of inanimate matter. As such both are essential for a complete theory of motion.

For the sake of this discussion Special Newtonian theory contains the basic everyday elements: space, time, matter and energy, while the laws of motion are part of the General Newtonian theory.

Relativity theory exploded the Special, while cementing Newton’s general theory of dynamics. In a similar fashion the theory of Information Dynamics employs the General Newtonian concepts, while exploding the Special ones. Exploding, in this context does not mean to destroy, but instead to expand the meaning beyond common usage – employing essences rather than features. For instance mass in BD has to do with the inertia of a data stream, rather than the weight of collections of atoms.

While Einstein still retained the force laws of Newton’s General Theory, the BD theory even transforms these while retaining their essence. While the Newton/Einstein model remains firmly planted in the material world, the BD model is firmly planted in the mathematical as it relates to the behavioral world. Despite a few notable crossovers (lines are always fractalized) - the mathematics of fractal regeneration, which is totally applicable to the animated world of life and relatively inapplicable to the inanimate world of matter, draws a distinct line between the two worlds – as life is always regenerative, while matter is not.

Note that while Information Dynamics employs the mathematics of fractal regeneration and Material Dynamics does not – hence the fundamental difference – that they both employ constructs of the General Exploded Theory of Newtonian Dynamics. General Newtonian Dynamics is applied in a special way to animate behavior just as it is applied in a special way to matter - with Einstein’s relativity just a special case of Newtonian Dynamics – when things move real fast – close to speed of light. All three systems are based in General Newtonian constructs.

The General Exploded Theory retains the essences of the unexploded version of the laws. For instance essences of momentum – in one matter and velocity through time in a Dead Data Stream – in the other the inertia and decaying average of a Live Data Stream.

Note that the Dynamics of Matter relies on position in space and time to determine relative motion and momentum while the Dynamics of Life relies on the position in the relevant Data Stream – relation to central measures and such – to determine this exploded momentum – its essence.

Note some sector of humanity holds each of these paradigms to be true to this day – and probably forevermore. Further Science has neither proved nor disproved any of the paradigms. However the theory of Information Dynamics firmly resides in the latter paradigm with Newton acting as the go between she and the matter guys. While Fractal Regeneration separates the two Lovers, Newton joins them together again.
